Top Ten Tuesday is hosted each week by The Broke and The Bookish and allows us to combine our love of books with our love of lists. This week’s topic is: Top Ten Books I Want My Children to Read.
This is such a hard topic but only because there are so many books I hope my kids will read some day. I actually got super lucky because I have two kids and they’re both HUGE readers. I really don’t know how it happened but I can say that we started reading to them as soon as they were born and never stopped. When they were little, we’d just go to the library and hang out and I’d let them get pretty much anything and everything they wanted. I can’t even tell you how much we’ve paid in library fines over the years but it’s been totally worth it. They now read like crazy and I my son is in 6th grade and starting to read the same books I am. It’s so weird and awesome all at the same time. I really could have included about a thousand books on this list because there are so many brilliant books that I still want my kids to read. But these are the ones I settled on. They’re a combination of classics books that I really think they should read as well as books that I think they’d really enjoy. I included Harry Potter because my daughter still hasn’t finished the series and because it’s my favorite series in the entire world and I really hope she’ll love it. I’m also planning on a few of these being books we read aloud together. Here they are:
