Top Ten Tuesday (187) : Top Ten Series I’ve Been Meaning to Start But Haven’t Yet

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted each week by The Broke and The Bookish and allows us to combine our love of books with our love of lists. This week’s topic is: Top Ten Series I’ve Been Meaning to Start But Haven’t.

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m terrible with series. I’m terrible at finishing them and I’m terrible at buying them and then never starting them. I love the idea of them, especially when I can binge read a series and not have to wait years in between books. I wish I could tell you how many series starters I have on my Goodreads TBR shelf or how many first books in series I own and have just never read, but that would be just plain embarrassing. So instead, I’m including the top 15 series I’ve been meaning to start (FOR YEARS) and just haven’t yet. When I first started the list, there were about 25 or so series on it, so this is cut down quite a bit. I also kept it to series that already have at least two books out because otherwise, they aren’t technically a series yet and probably haven’t been published for very long at all. Also, I own at least one book in each of these series. So, here are the top 15 series I’ve been meaning to read for a while now, feel free to send tons of guilt in the comments. Maybe it’ll actually motivate me to start some.

Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin, #1) Angelfire (Angelfire, #1) Stormdancer (The Lotus War, #1) Sabriel (Abhorsen, #1) Alanna: The First Adventure (Song of the Lioness, #1)

Finnikin of the Rock (Lumatere Chronicles, #1) Lock & Mori (Lock & Mori, #1) Riders (Riders, #1) Air Awakens (Air Awakens, #1) Soulless (Parasol Protectorate, #1)

Sloppy Firsts (Jessica Darling, #1) Alienated (Alienated, #1) All Lined Up (Rusk University, #1) The Lies of Locke Lamora (Gentleman Bastard, #1) Written in Red (The Others, #1)

Have you guys read any of these? Which one should I start immediately?!?!

What series made your lists this week?

  1. You’re not alone, I’m really bad at reading series, too – I get really excited for them and enjoy the first book, but then I get impatient and by the time the series has finished I’ve lost interest. I’m a bad finisher. =|

I hope you enjoy these when you get to them! I love Sabriel, it’s a brilliant series and one I highly recommend, and I really enjoyed Grave Mercy and Soulless, too; I’m on the third book in the Parasol Protectorate series now which is great progress for me, but I still haven’t read the last book in the His Fair Assassin trilogy despite owning it because I’m rubbish. Maybe I should have a month of reading dedicated to finishing series. Great list!
