Bout of Books

A brand new Bout of Books starts today and I’m so excited! I always love these and how they help keep me motivated to read. This one seems to be hitting right at the perfect time because I’ve just finished ACOWAR and without anything prompting me to read something new, I’d probably just sit on my ass staring at for days. But now I have goals and something pushing me forward!

I’ve pulled some books from my TBR this month to choose from for the week. But I’m such a mood reader and I don’t like wasting time on books I don’t feel like reading during readathons, that I’m really going to let myself choose any book I want to read this week. Ultimately, I’d just like to get 4-5 books read. Here are a few I have on hand for options:

The Truth About Happily Ever After The Names They Gave Us Royal Bastards Once and for All Roar (Stormheart, #1) When Dimple Met Rishi

The Dragon with a Chocolate Heart The Girl with the Ghost Machine Shattered Warrior

So I definitely won’t read all of these but the two I absolutely want to read this week are The Names They Gave Us and Shattered Warrior. After that, I’m just going to go with how I feel.

Progress Updates

Monday

Books I’ve read today: The Truth About Happily Ever After and The Names They Gave Us
Number of pages I’ve read today: 48 of TTAHEA and 312 of TNTGU
Total number of books I’ve finished: 0
Total pages read: 360

Thoughts: I started with TTAHEA and just couldn’t get into it so I switched to the new Emery Lord and it was a great decision! I flew through that book and only stopped because I was getting super tired and the book was getting really emotional. I’m looking forward to finishing that one tomorrow and hopefully reading more of TTAHEA. If not that one, though, then something else. I like to read things during the readathons that I’m really into.

Tuesday

Books I’ve read today: When Dimple Met Rishi, Shattered Warrior and The Names They Gave Us
Number of pages I’ve read today: 146 of WDMR, 256 of SW, and 76 of TNTGU
Total number of books I’ve finished: 2 (Shattered Warrior and The Names They Gave Us)
Total pages read: 838

Thoughts: This was a really good reading day for me. Not only did I have a lot of time to read but I also loved what I read! It doesn’t get any better than that. I hope tomorrow brings more of the same! I’m especially looking forward to finishing When Dimple Met Rishi.

Wednesday

Books I’ve read today: When Dimple Met Rishi, The Girl with the Ghost Machine
Number of pages I’ve read today: 211 of TGWTGM, 36 of WDMR
Total number of books I’ve finished: 3 (Shattered Warrior, The Names They Gave Us, The Girl with the Ghost Machine)
Total pages read: 1,085

Thoughts: I picked up The Girl with the Ghost Machine because I knew I’d be able to read it quickly. It’s actually very short and a really fast read and I just couldn’t get into any other books. I thought, based on the other middle-grade DeStefano books, that it’d be slightly creepy with a focus on friendship but I was totally and completely wrong. This book was incredibly sad and while I’m glad I read it, it just left me kind of depressed. So I’m hoping tomorrow will be better and I can focus on Dimple and enjoy my reading!

Sunday
Total number of books I’ve finished: 4 (Shattered Warrior, The Names They Gave Us, The Girl with the Ghost Machine, When Dimple Met Rishi)

Thoughts: So. I obviously fell apart a little there at the end. I kept up my reading pretty well, at least through Thursday. But after that, life got pretty busy. I did finish four books, which I’m happy with. Especially because they are all review books, so it helped me catch up a little bit. I also got halfway through Royal Bastards, which was also awesome, and a little bit of The Dragon with the Chocolate Heart. I had wanted to read a little bit more and maybe finish those two but the timing was just not right this time. There was too much happening and I just didn’t have the time to be able to ignore everything else. But school is over next week and we’ll finally be on summer break and I’ll definitely be doing my best to enjoy some relaxing and reading time!

I don’t usually read this much but for the readathons I try to pick books I know will be fast, easy reads, like graphic novels and middle-grade books. And I make extra time this week to read and since I’m home during the days, it’s easy for me. But usually it’s just a book or two a week.
