Well, March went by quicker than I had imagined. I had lots of plans for great reading last month. Unfortunately, I was incredibly lazy and watched a bunch of TV instead. I don’t regret it. But I am starting to wonder how people read a lot AND watch multiple TV shows at the same time. I think it must be because I’m such a slow reader. If I could read faster, I could definitely do both. But that’s okay. I don’t mind. And I’m enjoying the shows I’m watching. And the books I read this month were almost all great. So I really don’t have any complaints! Here’s what I read in March and what I’m hoping to read in April:
Geekerella by Ashley Poston and The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli: I absolutely loved both of these books! I highly recommend them if you’re a fan of YA contemporary romances.
Wires & Nerve by Marissa Meyer and Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick: These were both library books I’ve been waiting a while for so I’m glad I finally got to read them. Wires & Nerve was very good and enjoyable, especially with Iko as the MC. Scrappy Little Nobody was enjoyable and pretty much what you’d expect from a young movie star. But still funny and a good break from my usual reads.
Prisoner of Ice and Snow by Ruth Lauren and The Traitor’s Kiss by Erin Beaty: I also very much enjoyed both of these. PoIaS was a great middle-grade book with sisters and friends and adventure and mystery and definitely one I’d recommend to younger readers. Especially girls looking for books with strong female leads and a society that puts women in leadership roles. I enjoyed TTK, though I did have a few problems with it as well. It’s one you’ll have to form your own opinion on.
March Book 1 by John Lewis and Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones: March was insanely good and informative. I still need to read Books 2 and 3. Howl’s Moving Castle was a little bit disappointing for me. I had really high expectations for this but it was just much different than I expected.
Alex, Approximately by Jenn Bennett and In a Perfect World by Trish Doller: I’m so late getting this post done this month that I’ve actually already finished these two. And I really enjoyed them.
Defy the Stars by Claudia Gray and Letters to the Lost by Brigid Kemmerer: I’ve started DtS and so far, it’s okay. It hasn’t grabbed me like I’d hoped. LttL was on my list last month but I just didn’t get to it.
I Believe in a Thing Called Love by Maurene Goo and How to Make a Wish by Ashley Herring Blake: I’m so excited for both of these! I really hope they live up to expectations.
When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon and The Crown’s Fate by Evelyn Skye: I’m also seriously looking forward to WDMR. I hope it’ll be an awesomely cute and swoony romance. I’m a bit tentative about TCF because I didn’t love the first one but I hear this one is a little different. So I’m holding out hope that that’s true.
I’m hoping to read a few more books than this in April but I think I’m going to leave them open to whatever might come up and to however I’m feeling at the time. I’m also hoping I can get a bunch of reading done over spring break. But who knows, maybe I’ll just binge watch the second season of Buffy and the rest of Bones.
What are you excited to read this month?
