August was a great reading month for me! Combining ARC August with Bout of Books really gave me the motivation to get a bunch of books read and I’m really happy with how the month went. I know I won’t be able to keep that up for September, but I’m actually okay with that. I’ll also be focusing on books I own and series I want to catch up on in September since August was dedicated solely to ARCs. I’ll still definitely get in at least a couple ARCs, there are a few I just can’t wait on anymore! But first, here’s what I read in August:

August Reads

Like a River Glorious (The Gold Seer Trilogy, #2) A Torch Against the Night (An Ember in the Ashes, #2)

Like a River Glorious by Rae Carson and A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir: These were two of my most anticipated books for the year and I’m so happy I was able to read them this month! I loved Like a River and was unfortunately only okay with Torch. But still so happy to have them and can’t wait for everyone to read them!

Sleepless in Manhattan (From Manhattan with Love, #1) Sweet Little Lies (Heartbreaker Bay, #1)

Sleepless in Manhattan by Sarah Morgan and Sweet Little Lies by Jill Shalvis: I love romance books and these are two of my favorite authors. And both of these books lived up to their previous works! I definitely recommend them!

Replica (Replica, #1) Ice Like Fire (Snow Like Ashes, #2)

Replica by Lauren Oliver and Ice Like Fire by Sara Raasch: I didn’t love either of these as much as I had hoped but I’m still looking forward to their sequels. Of course, I have to wait a whole bunch longer for Replica #2. But Frost Like Night comes out soon!

The Great Shelby Holmes The Peculiar Night of the Blue Heart

The Great Shelby Holmes by Elizabeth Eulberg and The Peculiar Night of the Blue Heart by Lauren DeStefano: I’m telling you guys, I keep getting blown away by new middle grade books and I love it! Shelby Holmes was ridiculously cute and Peculiar Night was exceedingly creepy! But both are so good!

Giant Days, Vol. 1 Giant Days, Vol. 2

Giant Days Vols 1 and 2 by John Allison: I thoroughly enjoyed these two volumes and am looking forward to picking up the next ones. It wasn’t my favorite series, I felt it lacked focus and direction, but I enjoyed the girls’ friendship and their adventures at the beginning of college!

For This Life Only A Shadow Bright and Burning (Kingdom on Fire, #1)

For This Life Only by Stacey Kade and A Shadow Bright and Burning by Jessica Cluess: I really liked For This Life Only and have a review for it coming up on Friday! Unfortunately, I did not enjoy ASBAB nearly as much as I had hoped. I’m going to have to take some time to process my thoughts before writing a review. Hopefully, though, it won’t be too long.

Rocks Fall, Everyone Dies Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - Parts One and Two (Harry Potter, #8)

Rocks Fall, Everyone Dies by Lindsay Ribar: This one was definitely a little strange and I didn’t actually like it. I was kind of bummed. I can see why some people enjoy it but it just wasn’t for me.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by a bunch of people who aren’t J.K. Rowling: Yes, I read it. No, I didn’t actually hate it. Yes, it is fanfiction. No, it isn’t the eighth book. Yes, I still enjoyed it. Yes, I think I might be getting a tiny bit tired of new Harry Potter stuff.

September Reads

Queen of Shadows (Throne of Glass, #4) Empire of Storms (Throne of Glass, #5)

Queen of Shadows and Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas: So. It’s been two years since I read Heir of Fire. I haven’t read QoS yet but I’m hoping to do that and then read EoS. The only problem is, I’m not sure I remember much of HoF. Hopefully that won’t be too much of a problem…

Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows, #2) The Beauty of Darkness (The Remnant Chronicles, #3)

Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo and The Beauty of Darkness by Mary E. Pearson: TWO SERIES FINALES!!!! TWO HIGHLY ANTICIPATED BOOKS!!!! I’M SO EXCITED!!!!!

The Female of the Species Gemina

The Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis and Gemina by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff: I think these are the two ARCs I want to read the most. I’m not sure if I can even get through all of the books on this list this month! Considering each one except one is over 500 pages! But we’ll see. I’m caught up on my Goodreads challenge and always behind on ARCs, so I’m not too worried. If I get more done, I get more done and if not, at least I hope I’ll enjoy the books I do read!

What are you hoping to read in September?
