April at a Glance

Well, it’s probably not much of a surprise that I haven’t been around nearly as much this month as usual. It’s just been a crazy busy month for me personally and at the end of the day, I was too drained to contribute much time to blogging. I miss it when I’m not around as much but it’s hard when I’m just so tired all the time.

Most of my energy has been going into this remodel and worrying about it and everything else that comes with it. I’m not even doing the actual work, which is what makes it extra silly that I’m so tired because of it, but I just am. People are in my house all the time, I can’t cook or really prepare food of any kind, there’s so much noise, and it’s just a lot for someone like me. But just because I haven’t been blogging, doesn’t mean I have been reading. I’ve still been working on my ARCs for #ARCApril and have gotten a good amount finished. So as soon as I get back into a regular routine with blogging again, I’ll have a ton of reviews to write!

Until then, here’s what did happen on the blog this month in case you might have missed anything:

Most Exciting Book Mail

Every Exquisite Thing Rat Queens, Vol. 3: Demons

Every Exquisite Thing by Matthew Quick: Thanks to The Novl’s newsletter, I was able to snag an early copy of this. I’m looking forward to it because not only did he write Silver Linings Playbook, but also Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock, which I read and was kind of blown away by.
Rat Queens Vol 3: This was one of those that I totally forgot I pre-ordered and it showed up one day and I was so excited! I love the Rat Queens! Unfortunately, this wasn’t my favorite volume of the group, but I did still enjoy it and am happy for the surprise gift to myself!

Favorite April Reads

The Unexpected Everything Suffer Love Run

I got incredibly lucky with the contemporary reads in April! I loved all of these books and highly recommend them. The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson was fun and summery and very Sarah Dessen-y. Suffer Love by Ashley Herring Blake was different than I had expected but a very unique love story and a very interesting read. Run by Kody Keplinger was such a great story on friendship and how we judge people and disabilities and everything. I loved it!

Coming Up in May

Holy Moly. Is it really May? This year is already a third over?!?!?! How in the world did that happen? I really have no idea. I feel like this year has been on big joke on all of us. But regardless, time is passing quickly, I have no idea where it’s going, and I have no idea if May will be more like April or something completely its own.

I accomplished almost nothing for April that I posted in my March wrap-up, except the ones I’d committed to already. I really hope May will be different in that regard but I can’t promise anything at this point. I hope to get some reviews up for some of the books I read this month and will continue the giveaways I’ve been doing because I really do love those. I also hope to have a few other fun posts in there at some point but who knows. Mostly because May will continue to be busy here. The remodel is still going on and will last at least a couple more weeks. Which means more meals out and more begging for our parents to feed us real food. Also, I GET TO GO TO BEA!!!! I’m so excited about this one! I’m also pretty nervous because I’ve done no planning yet and I’m going on my own. Usually I bring my mom along to events like this so I won’t be lonely and because she also loves books. But I wanted to do one on my own, like a real adult, at least once. But now I’m getting scared. I don’t do well on Twitter, so I don’t feel like I have a ton of book friends like most bloggers do. But I’m determined to get there and enjoy my time and hopefully, maybe, even make a few friends!

There’s other stuff going on as well, like soccer and Memorial weekend and a baby shower for my cousin! So I’ll work as much as I can on the blog and reading but it might still be a little bit lighter than usual. But still, I will try my best. And if you’re interested, the next Bout of Books Readathon is starting on the 9th! So get ready to party!
