Reading Queue is a monthly meme hosted by Books: A True Story where we can get together and talk about the books we hope to read in the coming month and the books we read last month. So write up your own Reading Queue post and then go check them out!
I had a really lucky month with March and read some amazing books. I was so excited about my TBR at the beginning of the month and it did not let me down! I hope you guys all had just as great of a reading month as I did! It makes me excited to start a new month, but also a little cautious. I know it’ll be hard to top March, actually pretty impossible. But I’m still hoping because for April I’m going to focus completely on ARCs that I need and want to read. So here are the books I read in March, and some books that are on my shelf to hopefully read in April!
When We Collided by Emery Lord and Walk the Edge by Katie McGarry: Guys. These books were so good. When We Collided lived up to Lord’s other books for sure and was so honest and real, it was incredible. And Walk the Edge was a perfect follow up to Nowhere But Here.
Me Before You by Jojo Moyes and An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir: I’m having a difficult time with MBY because it was really well done but I felt so manipulated and overly emotional at the end that I just don’t love it. I hate feeling so much pain. So I don’t know what I think about it. AEITA was a great fantasy novel. Fantasies can be hit or miss with me but the world-building in this one was very well done and the characters were really interestings and complex. I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next one!
Every Move by Ellie Marney and The Mirror King by Jodi Meadows: EM was such a great ending to this series. So perfect! I highly recommend this series!
Awkward by Svetlana Chmakova and Defending Taylor by Miranda Kenneally: My daughter found Awkward at the library and brought it home and read it that same day. Then begged me to read it because she loved it so much. So I read it, that same day, and loved it as well. It’s such a cute story about friendship and responsibilities and working together and honesty and just regular school days. It was charming and the artwork was fantastic. It’s always great to find books we can enjoy as a family! And Defending Taylor is the next Hundred Oaks book and I loved just like I hoped I would!
City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare: I finally finished this series! The last two books weren’t my favorite but I’m happy to say that I actually enjoyed this one quite a bit more than I was expecting. It made me all that more excited for Lady Midnight and I really hope I’ll get the chance to read that one soon. But it’s just so big! I still get intimidated by big books.
I’m participating in ARC April so I’ll be leaving most of my TBR up to how I’m feeling in the moment. I have a shelf of ARCs and I’ll choose from those and hopefully let how I’m feeling mean I’ll be able to get through more books instead of trying to stick to a pre-made TBR. But, since I can’t leave this empty, here are some ARCs that I’m really hoping I’ll read this month:
What are you guys excited to read in April?
