Reading Queue is a monthly meme hosted by Books: A True Story and Book Tasty where we can get together and talk about the books we hope to read in the coming month and the books we read last month. So write up your own Reading Queue post and then go check them out!
October was an okay month for reading, though I only finished two books in the second half of the month. I just got a little stuck in a rut and had so many other things to do that I just didn’t even try to find time to read. But I still finished six books this month and am pretty happy about that. I also enjoyed most of the books I read, so that helps.
Now. I’m having some trouble picking my books for November. I have two books that I’m definitely reading but then after that, I’m setting up a poll and seeing what you guys think I should read. I have so many books that were on my TBR list for the beginning of the year that I haven’t yet read and several review books that I never got to. So I put a few of each on the list and want to see what you guys have to say. They’re all books I want to read, I just can’t decide this time and I’ve been so bad at sticking to my TBR lists for the past couple of months, that I’m putting the responsibility in your hands! So vote and help me out!
Mistletoe and Mr. Right by Lyla Payne and The Martian by Andy Weir: I love holiday romances and these two novellas in one were a perfect pick for when you want quick, holiday romances. They weren’t the best stories I’ve ever read, but they were enjoyable. The Martian definitely had it’s ups and downs for me but overall I was surprised by how much I liked it. Also, the movie was great!
Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin and Every Word by Ellie Marney: I really enjoyed both of these but they are very different. WxW is an alternate history story set after WWII, which didn’t actually end and Hitler continues to expand his rule and do awful things and Yael is on a mission to kill him. EW follows Mycroft and Watts on a new mystery. We also get to see more of their relationship and the difficulties surrounding it. I love this series so much!
Shutter by Courtney Alameda and The Bitter Kingdom by Rae Carson: Shutter isn’t my typical thing, I don’t usually read horror but I was pretty sucked into this one by the end. I think if you liked this, you should read Altered by Jennifer Rush and vise versa. Lots of action and a little bit of romance. TBK was a fantastic end to a fantastic series and I highly recommend reading the series. Especially if you love strong female characters and swoony romances.
Truthwitch by Susan Dennard and Everything but the Truth by Mandy Hubbard: I’m actually reading TW right now and enjoying it, thought it has taken me a bit to get into. It feels a bit like Six of Crows. I’m hoping the payoff for sticking with it will be just as worth it! I’m giving the If Only… series one more try with this one. I’m hoping it’ll be cute and not full of annoying characters like the last one I tried.
Those are the only two books that I’m definitely reading this month. But I have a whole pile of other books I want to read. Like I said above, a few come from my TBR challenge pile from the beginning of the year. I’ve only read four of the fourteen books I put on that list. A few others are older review books that slipped past me and a few others are just random books I want to read. I’d love it if you guys would vote on the books you think I should read. You can also leave comments about the books. And feel free to vote for more than one book.
Thanks so much for helping me out! What are you guys reading this month?
