This October was pretty much perfect fall weather! I wasn’t sure that was going to happen but the weather was perfectly beautiful! We had some really rainy days but also days full of 60 degree temps and cloudy skies and cool breezes. The leaves turned colors and it just feels like fall outside. I love it! My kids are loving Halloween season and chose to dress up as Boba Fett and Cat Woman. I sometimes wish I could be the kind of mom that makes Halloween costumes but I’m too much of a procrastinator to make it work and I also have no idea how to work a sewing machine. Also, have you ever seen a sewing pattern? They make no sense to me. Inside out and backwards and right side and I just don’t get it. So yes, we purchase costumes here.

But otherwise, the month was full of soccer and school. My son is gearing up for basketball season, which he loves and I love because it’s inside. We’re full into homeschooling now but I still feel like I’m floundering sometimes. There are just somethings that I don’t know how to teach them yet and some days when they just don’t want to learn anything. But then we have some days that are amazing and fun. I assume that’s normal for this kind of thing but overall we’re still enjoying it.

We also got kittens in October. I had no idea kittens had so much energy! It’s like having toddlers all over again! Seriously, they’re into everything, they’re clumsy, they’re aggressive with each other, they nap like pros, and they never sleep in! But really, they’ve been great cats so far and my kids are taking well to the responsibilities of looking after them. They’re fun to have around and they make me glad I didn’t give into getting a dog. Cats and kids are pretty much all I can handle!

Here’s everything you might have missed on the blog this month!

Most Exciting Book Mail

Truthwitch (The Witchlands, #1) Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1) Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter, #7) Starflight (Starflight, #1)

Truthwitch by Susan Dennard: I’m only borrowing this one and sending it on again soon but it was definitely one of the most exciting book to pop up in my mail this month!
Illustrated Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone: YES!! So excited to finally get this book. If you guys haven’t seen the inside, it is absolutely gorgeous. And so great to read with kids!
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: This was an exciting trade I made this month. It’s a First Edition UK Deathly Hallows! Being a huge Harry Potter fan, it was fun to add this edition to my collection!
Starflight by Melissa Landers: This was another awesome trade! I don’t know much about this book but it reminds me a bit of These Broken Stars, thought I don’t even know if that’s accurate, but it still makes me excited for it!

Favorite October Reads

Every Word (Every, #2) Wolf By Wolf (Wolf By Wolf, #1) The Bitter Kingdom (Fire and Thorns, #3)

Every Word by Ellie Marney: If you guys love mysteries like Sherlock with a little bit of romance, definitely check it out! I think I liked this second book even better than the first. Now I’m being tortured having to wait until February for the next book to come!
Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin: This was such a unique story and an interesting alternate history. The flashbacks were definitely the best part of the book but I wasn’t expecting to get as involved in the race as I did. I wish the sequel would get here sooner!
The Bitter Kingdom by Rae Carson: If you have not read the Fire and Thorns series, you must. Every book is amazing and the characters are even better. So go do it!

Coming Up in November

Guys, I’m going to be completely honest here. I have no idea what’s coming up in November. No idea. Beyond the normal stuff, I’m hoping to continue with my Dawson’s rewatch posts but otherwise, November starts the really busy time around here. Add in the homeschooling and I feel like I have almost no time for reading or blogging. Of course, I try to make time because I enjoy these things but with both kids birthdays coming up as well as the major holidays, any extra brain power I might have by the end of the day is being put towards planning those things. So I apologize if the blog is a little light here in November but I also promise you that I will do my best.

I hope you guys all have a great November! It is one of my favorite months. Besides celebrating my kids, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I just love it. Except the pumpkin pie. I’ve tried it so many times always thinking this time will be different but, guys, it’s just kind of gross. I can’t believe I don’t love it, especially because I love so many other pumpkin things but I have never been able to get past the texture. So I’ll leave the pumpkin pie to you guys and hope your Thanksgivings, if you celebrate it, are wonderful! And if you don’t, I still hope you have a great November!
