Top Ten Tuesday is hosted each week by The Broke and The Bookish and allows us to combine our love of books with our love of lists. This week’s topic is: Top Finished Series I Have Yet to Finish.
Funny story. We did this topic way back in 2012, only about six months after I’d started blogging and reading a lot. When starting this list, I couldn’t remember what I had put down last time. So I checked it out. And funnily enough, I still haven’t finished any of those series. None. And for a second there, I felt like in the last three years, I’d accomplished nothing. Based on that list, that was completely true. But then I took a few minutes to look over the list and I realized that I don’t even really want to finish any of those series. Well. Maybe a couple. The older ones I’d still like to get to someday. But I also felt liked I’ve learned and seen so much more of the book world since then and learned more about myself and my reading preferences since making that list. I’ve found so many authors and series that I really truly love and want to read. So my list is 100% different this go around. It feels more about me this time and not what I think other people would think I should read. If that makes sense. I’m happy with this list, except that it’s full of books I haven’t read. If you’re at all curious about my last list, you can find that one here. Also, a really strange and weird coincidence, that was my 24th Top Ten Tuesday and this is my 124th. Weird.
Anyway, here is my list of shame. I mean the Top Ten Series I have yet to finish:
Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor: I just have the last book to finish. You’ll see that’s actually a running theme throughout this post. I loved the first book but I definitely need a refresher before starting the last one!
The Retribution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin: Yep, once again, I just have the last book to finish. But there was so much time between the second and the third, even though I purchased it already, I haven’t felt the NEED to pick it up yet. Hopefully soon.
Boundless by Cynthia Hand: Another third book to finish. Guys, seriously, there is something wrong with me. I have this as well, I just need to suck it up and finish it already!
The Crown of Embers and The Bitter Kingdom by Rae Carson: Finally, a series where I need to read more than just the last book! I recently read Walk on Earth a Stranger and it reminded me I still need to finish this! I really enjoyed The Girl of Fire and Thorns so I’m hoping to finish this series by the end of the year!
Evertrue by Brodie Ashton: I really liked the first two books in this series but then reviews started coming in for the last one, they weren’t nearly as positive as for the others. So I got scared. And I haven’t read it yet. But I still need to finish the series!
Asunder and Infinite by Jodi Meadows: I read Incarnate when it came out and really liked it. But then lost the desire to finish the series for no good reason by the time the other books came out. Then this year I read The Orphan Queen by Jodi Meadows and now I MUST finish her first series while I wait for The Mirror King!
Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo: Once again my aversion to finishing series shows up here. I just have the last book to finish this series, and I’ve already bought it too, but I just haven’t done it yet. What is my problem?
Prodigy and Champion by Marie Lu: This series falls under the I-didn’t-love-the-first-book-but-everyone-talks-about-how-much-they-love-the-series-that-I-want-to-give-it-another-try series. If you’ve read and loved this series, let me know and motivate me to read them!
City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare and Allegiant by Veronica Roth: These two books fall under the I-don’t-really-want-to-read-it-but-I-feel-like-I-should books. But seriously, do I want to read these books? I will at some point. I’ve been enjoying the Divergent movies so maybe before the Allegiant movies start coming, I’ll read the book. And I’ve already invested so much time in TMI books, I feel like I might as well finish it all. We’ll see.
I feel like this list was more to shame me than anything else. I’d love to hear which one of these series you think I should finish first! I finally finished the Shatter Me series this year because I got so much pressure from someone who loved it. So maybe you guys can help me finish some of these too! This list is also very similar to my Series I Want to Finish in 2015 list I made back in January. I’ve only finished one so far. I need help, guys!
What series should I finish first? Are there any finished series that you haven’t finished yet?
