May is over, guys! It’s officially summer! At least, it is here. School is out and the weather is warm (and humid) and the kids are playing outside a ton. And I’m really excited! I’m hoping to start sitting outside with my books soon, either in the backyard while the kids play or when we’re at the pool. We haven’t been yet but I’m hopeful that this is the year that we’ll go a bunch. And there are so many great books coming out this summer, it’s bound to be awesome!!
May was a great reading month for me and I was actually able to get a little ahead on the blog and have some scheduled posts. I’m actually even scheduled a bit for June! Which is great since the kids are home now and probably expecting me to at least see them sometimes, if not hang out with them a bit. And since my days of them wanting to hang out with me are numbered, I want to try to take advantage of that.
Here is the round-up for everything that happened in May and a little of what’s coming up in June.

Most Exciting Book Mail
Stand-Off by Andrew Smith: I was approved for an eARC of this on Edelweiss and I am so excited for it! I can’t wait to read it!
Jesse’s Girl by Miranda Kenneally: I was approved for this one on NetGalley and I couldn’t wait to start it. I already read it and really enjoyed it. If you are a fan of the Hundred Oaks books, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with this one.
Fangirl Collector’s Edition by Rainbow Rowell: Dude. My awesome #otspsecretsister got this for me and I absolutely love it! The yellow was my favorite and I have no idea where she got it but I also already read the Carry On preview in the back and it was awesome! This is one of my most favorite books and I’m so excited to have this edition!
Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella: This is the one book I’ve traded for through the #booksfortrade on Twitter and I’m really excited to read it.
Favorite May Reads
Nimona by Noelle Stevenson and Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli: It was really hard for me to choose the books to put here because I read twelve books this month and all but one got less than four stars. It was a great month in books for me. So I decided to go with the two books that got five stars here. I highly recommend both of these, especially if you’re looking for something fun. Definitely give these a try!
Coming Up in June
June is going to be great! I can feel it! I’ll have reviews for both Along for the Ride and Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen, which are both great books for summer reading. I’ll also have reviews for Nimona by Noelle Stevenson, Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz, The Summer of Chasing Mermaids by Sarah Ockler, and hopefully More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera and The Witch Hunter by Virginia Boecker. I’ll also have the other regular posts, hopefully a couple of fun ones in there, as well as a June new release giveaway and another giveaway for some ARCs.
I have decided to participate in the #TBRTakedown Read-a-thon! It starts on Monday, June 1 and lasts until Sunday, though I’m probably going to start Sunday and end a day early as well. It’s pretty relaxed and I’ll probably only have one post for it on Monday, but you can learn all about it here on LeaningLights YouTube video.
Otherwise, I’m not entirely sure how June is going to go. I’m hoping to keep the reading and blogging momentum from this month onto the next but with school out and summer activities plus the stupid heat and humidity that I hate so much, it’s hard to know if I will be able to. Just being outside in the humidity we have here can make me exhausted and sap any desire to actually accomplish anything for the rest of the day! I am not a summer person. Still, it’s hard to argue that it isn’t pretty. And we’ll spend a bunch of time outside regardless of how much I hate it because we do enjoy outdoor summery activities!
I hope you guys all had a great May and that June brings good things for you! Are you guys doing anything exciting this month?
