Bout of Books

I am beyond excited to be hosting a challenge for this Bout of Books. It’s my third time participating in a Bout of Books Read-a-Thon but my very first time hosting a challenge. I hope you’re participating in the read-a-thon too and will give my challenge a try in between all of your reading. Besides the fact that my challenge will be super fun, there’s also a giveaway, so check it out!

It’s a Double Date Book Challenge!

The Rules for the Challenge:

You must pick two books that you would recommend someone read together (like a double date!) and explain your reasons for the recommendation. You can recommend the books because they are in the same genre, one is a retelling of the other, they deal with the same issues, or maybe they’re complete opposites, whatever you want as long as you can explain why they should be read together. Just one exception: they cannot be books from the same series. You can leave your answers in the comments or post your answers wherever you’re posting your Bout of Books updates and leave the link in the comments. Then make sure you fill out the Rafflecopter! And don’t forget to have fun with it! I can’t wait to see all the pairings you guys come up with!

Here are some examples:

Z for Zachariah Not a Drop to Drink

Z for Zachariah by Robert C. O’Brien and Not a Drop to Drink by Mindy McGinnis: Read together because they are both post-apocalyptic books told from a teenage girl’s POV but were written 40 years apart.

Something Like Normal The Impossible Knife of Memory

Something Like Normal by Trish Doller and The Impossible Knife of Memory by Laurie Halse Anderson: Read together because they are both beautiful books about PTSD. One is told from a returning soldier’s POV and one is told from a soldier’s daughter’s POV.

Pride and Prejudice (Modern Library Classics) Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, #1)

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith: Read together because one is an original and one is a retelling. With zombies! (Full disclosure: I haven’t read either of these. Oops)

What you can win:

A book of choice up to $10 USD from The Book Depository.

The Rules for the Giveaway:

You must be a Bout of Books participant. You must be 18 years or older. The giveaway is open Internationally as long as The Book Depository ships to your country for free. The challenge will be open for 24 hours only, starting at Midnight CST on January 9. You must fill out the Rafflecopter to be entered to win. I will contact the winner via email on Friday.
