This week’s question: Who is your favorite villain from a book?

I’ll go ahead and warn you that I’m not going to be able to limit myself to one villain. Villains are so important to the progression of a story and there are so many reasons why villains can be great. So I’m going to share a few that I like and the main reason why I like them.

  1. Voldemort: Yes, one of the best villains ever. It might be because he was one of the first truly evil characters I was able to follow from childhood through adulthood and was able see the progression of evil within him. Or it could be that he was able to get so many people to follow him without question, even at a young age. Or maybe it’s just that he was the villain in my favorite book series ever. I think it’s a combination of all of these. You can have your own reasons, but no matter what he’s one of the great villains in literature.
  2. The Darkling (from Shadow and Bone): Ooooh boy, this guy was good. Honestly, I changed my mind about this guy myself a few times during the book. That’s what makes him a great villain, being able to convince people that he might not actually be the villain.
  3. Kinpatsu Sakamochi (from Battle Royale): Have you guys read this book? It is gory and creepy and intense. And Sakamochi is responsible for most of that. Sakamochi is the government employee in charge of The Program, the fight-to-the-death competition in Battle Royale. He is way creepier than President Snow from The Hunger Games and has absolutely no problem killing a kid or two himself. He is downright creepy and completely unpredictable and that’s why he makes this list of great villains.

Ok, those are my answers. Have you read these books? What do you think of these guys? Also, I want to know your answers, so leave me a link to your FF answer!
