I get to take part today in the FEAR Blog Tour hosted by Book Me! It’s a perfect post to celebrate Halloween. If you haven’t heard, FEAR: A Modern Anthology of Horror and Terror is two volumes that contain horror stories from sixty indie authors. The greatest part of FEAR, aside from the thrilling stories, is that all royalties from the sales of the books will go to support international charities Barnardo’s and Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders). So if you are a fan of scary stories and you haven’t yet heard of FEAR, go check it out now. Here are the links for Volume One: On Goodreads On Amazon and Volume Two: On Goodreads On Amazon.
If you’d like a little preview RIGHT NOW, then you’re in luck. I have an excerpt from Shirley Golden’s story Seamless from Volume One.
Excerpt taken from Seamless by Shirley Golden
Can’t remember a time before him. Robert Treace: six feet tall, black hair, not handsome because his skin is pitted; a measure of physical attraction is smoothness. He exhibits an intelligent gaze and is commanding. A cliché, but it’s the best fit sentence for him.
Our first encounter was at his place of work. He said to relax. His fingers spidered across scalp, dug beneath hair, attached electrodes, positioned them with a dab of gel.
“Stay very still,” he said.
Signed the consent form. They don’t call it a subject anymore. Do you agree to participate in this experiment? Scribbled on the dotted line like he said: Melissa. Melissa: I stared at generated letters, scratched onto the page, pristine and still wet.
And now for Shirley’s Author Spotlight. She’s just one of the many authors who donated their work to FEAR to help raise money for Médecins Sans Frontières (aka Doctors Without Borders) and Barnardo’s.
