I’m so glad you’re all here, it’s going to be a great week! I’ll have some giveaways going on, summer is only half over, my baby is at her first half-day summer camp, and it’s my birthday week! I won’t be disclosing my age here because I’m really past that point where advertising your age is fun, but I’m happy to be celebrating with my family this week. And while I won’t be hosting a birthday specific giveaway, I do have two others that will be open this week. So enter them and maybe you’ll be able to celebrate this month as well! But for now, here’s a brief recap of what happened last week and a preview of what’s coming up for this week!
Top Ten Tuesday was a freebie week so I chose to make a list of my Favorite Books with a Male POV. I would like to add Pushing the Limits to the list, which I just read this last week and loved it!
I posted a book review that covered both Divergent and Insurgent by Veronica Roth.
Thursday I asked whether you loved or hated movie tie-in covers on books. Everyone who commented agreed with me. I hate them. If you feel differently, you should go over and comment!
Then on Sunday came my most popular post this week: the July New Release Giveaway! If you haven’t entered, go now! It will be open for entries through July 31, but that doesn’t mean you need to wait until then. Don’t miss your chance to win a new book released in July!
I finished two YA contemporaries this week: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green and Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry. I’m going to be totally unpopular when I admit that I didn’t love TFIOS like everyone else did. I haven’t read any other John Green books and I have a feeling it was more his style that I didn’t like, but I really wasn’t a huge fan. I still cried though, so don’t think I’m completely emotionally closed-off! I did love Pushing the Limits, however, and am excited to write up my review and hear what everyone else thinks of it after it’s released next week.
Borrowed: Such a Rush by Jennifer Echols
Bought: Easy by Tammara Webber
For Review: Every Day by David Levithan (thanks to NetGalley and Random House Children’s Books)
Top Ten Tuesday’s topic is the Top Ten Books For People Who Like X Book (Pick a book and pick 10 readalikes). I haven’t decided which book to choose yet, so I need to get on that one. If you want to participate, head over to The Broke and the Bookish for all the rules.
Thursday will start the Vacation Reads Giveaway Hop! I’ll be giving away a book of your choice from a list of books that I think are great reads to take on vacation. So come back on Thursday and enter for your chance to win a new book!
I’ll also be posting a book review and participating in Feature and Follow.
I’m currently reading My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick and getting ready to start Frostbite by Richelle Mead and Glitch by Heather Anastasiu. I’ve heard the second book in the Vampire Academy series is better than the first, so I’m excited to finally see for myself!
That’s all I’ve got for this weekly wrap-up. It’s destined to be a great week around here, so don’t miss it!
