Weekly Wrap-Up 7/9/12

It’s the beginning of another week and it feels good to be here. Last week was crazy busy with the power outage effects still lingering, the incredibly hot weather, and the Fourth of July holiday in the middle of the week. But we made it through and had a great celebration with friends and family. And, luckily, this weekend has been very relaxing and low-key. We’ve got another great week coming up with fun summer activities, cooler weather, and a birthday to celebrate. Plus, there are some great things coming up on the blog. Here’s a glimpse at what happened last week and some things you can look forward to this week!

I showcased some great Kindle Book Deals on Monday. The prices on Amazon change all the time, so I’m not sure if any of the deals are still what I listed on the post. But there are also new deals out there already. The Vincent Boys is currently free on Amazon, so go download it! I haven’t read it, but it’s gotten some really good reviews and I downloaded it myself to read sometime. I’ll do more Kindle Book Deal posts when I find ones I want to share, probably at random intervals. So keep an eye out!

Tuesday’s Top Ten topic was Books For People Who Like X (pick an author and give recommendations). I had a hard time coming up with ten for one author, so I broke it down and made suggestions for a few popular authors.

I chose The Kill Order by James Dashner as my Waiting on Wednesday pick. I can’t wait to read it and finally get some answers to my questions left over from The Maze Runner!

I wrote a review of Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo. I loved it. If you are a fan of fantasy or YA books, I recommend that you check it out.

Books

I finished Something Like Normal by Trish Doller and loved it. It was really moving, really well written, and unlike most books I’ve read. This is another book that you should go out and read. Soon. I also read Blackbrooke by Emma Silver. This one really took me by surprise. It’s a YA horror book with a similar theme to The Village, but also so different. I loved it. And I’ll be participating in the blog tour for the book coming up later in the month.

Posts

Posts this week will be pretty standard. I’ll have a Top Ten Tuesday, a book review, and a Feature and Follow post. But I’ll also have a giveaway starting on Sunday for the July New Release Giveaway Hop hosted by Book Twirps and Refracted Light Reviews. You’ll have a chance to win a book of your choice from my list of July New Releases. So don’t miss it!

Books

I was in a little bit of a reading slump so I went ahead and rearranged my reading schedule. I had to put Die For Me aside to finish later, I just couldn’t get into it like I wanted to. Instead, now I’ll be reading Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry, which I received for review and will come out later this month, and The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, which I’ve heard a ton about and am almost nervous to read because of how emotional it is destined to be. But I want to read it and I’m excited to finally get the chance.

Well, that’s all I’ve got for this week’s wrap-up. I hope you all have a great week and don’t forget to come back on Sunday for the beginning of my July Release Giveaway!
