Weekly Wrap-Up 7/2/12

Wow. That was a crazy weekend. In case you don’t live around here and haven’t heard, we had a few intense storms. We live in Ohio and got hit Friday with the wind and the rain. There were storms through the east coast as well. We were out of power for only a little over 24 hours, but the projections we were originally given were for 5-7 days. We were lucky to be able to ship the kids out with grandparents who had power and got it back on before they came back, but with the Fourth coming up the timing was bad. Right now we’re just thankful to have power, I know there are still so many people out there without it struggling to get through the 90+ degree days. If you are one of them, I am sorry. If you aren’t, consider yourself lucky. Either way, I hope you are all excited to read my posts! Here is what happened last week, in case you missed anything, and what will be coming up this week, to get you all excited for a great week!

 Last Week

Top Ten Tuesday’s post was all about Book Characters Who Remind Me of Someone I Know in Real Life. It was much harder than I thought it would be and could only come up with six.

Wednesday I posted a list of Anticipated July Releases. And none too soon, since we’re already into July!

I also posted my book review of Jennifer Weiner’s The Next Best Thing. If you are a fan of her’s already or you like books with humor and romance and real characters, read this book. It comes out on Tuesday.

I finished (and loved) Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo last week. Unfortunately, due to the storms and power outages and general disruption, I didn’t have much time to read over the weekend so I only made it through that one book.

The Fault in Our StarsFor Darkness Shows the StarsOutlander (Outlander, #1)

A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1)Sisterhood Everlasting (Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants): A Novel

Borrowed: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, For Darkness Shows the Stars by Diana Peterfreund, and Outlander by Diana Gabaldon.

Bought: A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness and Sisterhood Everlasting by Ann Brashares

 This Week

Tuesday’s Top Ten post is once again proving to be difficult for me. The topic is Top Ten Books I Would Recommend to Someone Who Likes X (choose an author). I’m not sure how many recommendations I can get.

I will finally publish that discussion post I mentioned last week and will also be writing up a review for later in the week.

I am currently still reading Something Like Normal by Trish Doller and also working on Die For Me by Amy Plum. Hopefully I’ll be able to catch some time to read this week, but with the holiday, things aren’t looking great. If I do, though, and I get through those two, next on the list is Glitch by Heather Anastasiu and Until I Die by Amy Plum.

Alright, that’s all I’ve got for now. Here’s hoping this week is calmer and happier for everyone. And if you’re celebrating this week, Happy Fourth of July!!
