Next week is July already. I honestly can’t believe it. We’re in full summer mode here. The kids are spending time in the kiddie pool in the backyard and the hubs and I are working on projects around the house. We finally decided on a paint color for the family room and are adding bookshelves to the living room! I’m so excited for the shelves. Since we moved into this house last year, most of our books have been kept in boxes or temporary shelves around the house. Maybe I’ll post a picture of the shelves when they’re done. Until then, here’s a recap from last week and a look forward to this week.
Top Ten Tuesday’s post was about the top books on our Summer TBR List. I really hope I get to all of the books I included.
I wrote a Waiting on Wednesday post about the book Dualed by Elsie Chapman. It looks like I’m not the only one waiting to hear back from NetGalley about that one! I hope we all get approved, it looks so good!
Thursday I posted my review of Masque of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin. I gave it 4 stars and am definitely looking forward to the end of the story in Dance of the Red Death!
I finished The Next Best Thing by Jennifer Weiner last week and am writing up my review. On Goodreads I already gave it four stars and highly recommend it, especially if you are a Jennifer Weiner fan, this book did not disappoint. Unfortunately, I did have to give up on Dark Lover by J.R. Ward for now. I didn’t get caught up in the beginning much and needed to take it back to the library. I’ve already requested it again, so hopefully next time I’ll get a bit more into it. I’ve heard the first isn’t as good as the others and I definitely want to give it a real try!
Borrowed: Something Like Normal by Trish Doller, The Weird Sisters by Eleanor Brown, Flirting in Italian by Lauren Henderson, and My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick
Bought: Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor, Graceling by Kristin Cashore, and Fated by S.G. Browne
Top Ten Tuesday’s topic this week is Top Ten Characters Who Remind Me Of Myself Or Someone I Know In Real Life. I haven’t even started writing this post, so between that and the topic, I’m not sure I’ll get to ten. It’s going to be a tough one.
I’m also working on a post about July book releases that I’m looking forward to. There are a ton coming out to get excited for!
I should be posting my review for The Next Best Thing this week and maybe a discussion post in there somewhere.
This week I’m reading Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo and I’m already loving it! Books like this make me wish there was some way to stop time so I could just do nothing but read until I was done! I’m also reading Something Like Normal by Trish Doller which has so far proved to be quite emotional and very good. After that on my list are Hemlock by Kathleen Peacock and Glitch by Heather Anastasiu.
That’s all for this week’s update. Next week will be the Fourth of July already. We’ll be celebrating with family, so I need to get some posts ready to go for next week too. I hope you all have a fantastic week!
