Wow, this week has been crazy! I want to say “HI!” to all of my new followers and thank you for reading and I hope you’ll stick around. This past week marked the end of the school year for my son, so we’ve been on new schedule mode for a few days now and are just trying to survive. I’m hoping we’ll get a bit more into relaxing summer mode soon. Until then, here’s a look back at what happened last week and look forward at what’ll be coming up this week.
Top Ten Tuesday’s posts was all about the books written in the last 10 years that we hope are still being read in 30 years. At first it seemed easy, but I put a lot of thought into my list and had to leave out some books that I truly love.
I also wrote up a list of a few books that will be released in June. I keep finding books that I’m looking forward to that I forgot about, so the list is feeling more and more incomplete as the days go by. I wonder if there will ever be a time when I’m reading books faster than I’m adding books to my list.
On Friday, of course, I posted the My Favorite Reads Giveaway! The giveaway is open through June 6 at midnight (EST). So go on over and enter if you haven’t already! I’m giving away a book of your choice from a list of my favorites.
I finished two big ones in the world of YA paranormal books last week. First, City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare, which unfortunately I did not like as much as most of her other books. I know most people loved it, but fair warning, if you read my review I gave it only 3 stars. The second book I finished was Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy. So many people recommend this book. Honestly, it took a little bit for me to get into, but I was definitely hooked by the end and am getting ready to read the second in the series.
School for my son ended last week, so the big schedule change has left me a bit behind around here. I usually try to be a little more planned out than I am and have a couple posts ready to go for the week by this point. Oh well. It’s still going to be a great week. Here’s what you’ll likely see:
Tuesday’s Top Ten topic this week is a rewind week, so we can pick any past topic we want. You’ll have to stop back tomorrow to see which past topic I’ve written about!
I have a discussion post I’ve been thinking about that I’m hoping to get posted this week about how you rate books, particularly individual books from series. Look for that on Thursday and come back and share your thoughts!
I’ll be announcing the giveaway winner on Friday! The entries close at midnight on Wednesday, so enter now if you haven’t already!
And, of course, they’ll be a book review thrown in there. 🙂
I’ve got several books I want to finish soon. From Netgalley, I’ve got Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein. I’m also looking at reading both The Iron Daughter by Julie Kagawa and Masque of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin. Hopefully this week will include lots of time for reading!
From the Amazon Kindle shop, I got both Hourglass by Myra McEntire and Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake. From my local library, I picked up The Hunt by Andrew Fukuda and The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory. For review from Netgalley, I received Glitch by Heather Anastasiu thanks to St. Martin’s Griffin!
